The AMO literature research centre is attached to the Faculty of Arts and Languages (UFR Lettres et Langages) at the Université de Nantes. It currently has 40 permanent members from the University’s Classics, Modern Literature, Italian Studies, English Studies, and Foreign Languages and Cultures departments. In addition it has 26 associate members, five emeritus members and 38 doctoral students.
The centre’s research focus is on interactions between the ancient and modern worlds. This focus is broken down into three areas:
- Representation, identity, history
- The transmission of texts and ideas
- Modernity, translations and theories
