Sustainable Cities (Ville Durable) is a centre for research through design at the École de Design Nantes Atlantique dedicated to urban and regional change. The Design Lab brings together public and private stakeholders, companies, associations, regional authorities and academics and aims to create, develop and carry out “full-scale” tests on new spaces, services and products that combine user needs and environmental and economic necessities.
Sustainable Cities Design Lab’s research activities are grouped into two broad areas:
- The “slow” city and sharing flows: multimodal mobility and new related services;
- Changes to the built environment and spaces, in a context in which small surface areas, increased density and accountability for ecological matters determine new “ways of living”.
Within the West Creative Industries programme, Sustainable Cities is taking part in the AD LUX – Experience Design research project, in collaboration with the GRANEM laboratory (Groupe de Recherche Angevin en Economie et Management) at Université d’Angers.
